Quiltsmartie Sue contacted us last month to delivery the news that her Quilt of Valor quilt will be presented to a very deserving WWII vet on July 4th, 2015. Fittingly, Independence Day!

The first official day of Fall has come and gone, and we're already enjoying this lovely season.  The season of falling leaves, cozy fires, beautiful colors, great smells, and baked goods.

Even quilting looks different in Fall!  We start to see tons of warm colors that become a welcome reprieve from the bright, colorful tones of Spring and Summer, and start to get us in the mood for pumpkins and spice.

I recently came across a photo on Twitter posted by Quiltsmartie Michelle.  She had just finished the Quiltsmart Double Wedding Ring class taught by Mattie at BJ's Quilt Basket in Bend, OR.  Her photo was a great representation of the Double Wedding Ring, and we were thrilled that she shared it with her social media fans.

I tracked down Quiltsmartie Laura of Happiness is Quilting (don't you love that name?) on Twitter after coming across some great photos she had shared.  Laura did such a great job on her Gadget Cushion, that we thought you'd all really love to check it out.  Unbeknownst to us at the time, she had made over 20 of them to gift at a retreat, and had some photos to share of other Quiltsmart patterns she'd used.

Brag Post: A Mariner's Compass with the Help of Quiltsmart

Quiltsmartie Nancy made a beautiful, gorgeous, amazing quilt (it's really that great!), and we just HAD to share it with you!  Nancy explains the process better than I ever could, so in her own words, here is her description of what she did to achieve such a fun, unique look using the Quiltsmart Mariner's Compass pattern.

"I used Quiltsmart for the complete Mariner's Compass in the upper left
corner and also for the partial Mariner's Compass in the lower right
corner. The Flying Geese I just cut and sewed. I found a paper-piecing
pattern on-line for the circle of geese in each corner.

When my daughter got married I told her to pick out a quilt pattern and
then we would go shopping for fabric together. She chose a stack-n-whack
at first and I wasn't thrilled with making another one of those, so I
suggested she consider something else. I did not even know what a
Mariner's Compass was when she told me that is what she wanted. I bought
some books which were completely overwhelming and took a little one
afternoon course at a local quilt shop on how to do paper-piecing (since
I had never done that before). The quilt I made looks very similar to
the photograph she found...I just came up with my own stars, etc. It has
definitely been a challenge, but I am glad to have done it. I think I
saw a video on Facebook about using the Quiltsmart product and quickly
ordered it! I saved the clip from YouTube and watched it over and over
again as I was using your product! It was from a quilting television
show...Kaye something I think. We purchased the fabric almost two years
ago, but I had a little interruption of needing to make a baby quilt for
her daughter!"

Brag Post- Quilt of Valor

Quiltsmartie Pat approached us regarding her Quilt of Valor Quilt a few weeks ago.  She wanted to add some Quiltsmart Star Struck Zig Zapps! to the border, and we were happy to help!  Pat has since finished her quilt top, and we are very impressed by the amazing job she did.

Brag Post- Cheese, Baguettes and.... a Midi Bag?

When a quilting project brings visions of the French countryside, a nice glass of wine followed by gourmet cheese and a warm, soft baguette, you know you did something right.  Quiltsmartie Cheryl made this lovely Quiltsmart Midi Bag using French Provincial cottons with grommet handles and plans to take it with her to Paris this summer, where she does indeed plan to carry her French baguettes and cheese.

The only thing possibly cuter than the French inspired Midi Bag is it's little Quiltsmart Bitty Bag friends.  How cute are these?

Quiltsmartie Ann is getting ready to start her own online business with an Etsy store called A Little Touch of Color.  Ann shared with us a few photos of her Quiltsmart Midi bags she will be selling there.
