Baking up Some Quilting Fun with Cookies for Santa

Do you feel that electric energy in the air? The spirit of Christmas is abound! As we get our decorations up, gifts purchased, and handmade items wrapped up, it's hard not to want to quilt up a bunch of goodies.  Well... there's still time to bake up some quilting fun with our Cookies for Santa "recipe".

In true Quiltsmart form, these Cookies for Santa table mats sew up quickly and are sew easy! Make one for yourself and make a few to gift.


The "recipe" is as follows:

Makes about 4 dozen quilt cookies

Ingredients:
ZigZapps! panels from Quiltsmart

1 Gingerbread Panel
1 Sweet Hearts Panel
1 At the Cabin Panel (Trees)
1 Star Struck Panel
1 Circles Panel
OR
Purchase our convenient Cookies for Santa pack that includes one of each ZigZapps! panels needed for the Cookies for Santa project.

Instructions:
(also on printed interfacing)

Cut between the pieces. Slit centers for turning.
Place interfacing pieces rough back side to fabric right side.
Sew on solid line, overlapping beginning stitches.
Trim on dashed line. Turn right side out. Finger-press.
Place "cookies" on a pre-quilted placemat oval or round (12" diameter shown here).
Fuse to background. Zigzag stitch around each "'cookie"
Decorate with: rick rack, embroidery, beads, buttons or decorative stitches.
