Double Wedding Ring Quilt Block |
On our Double Wedding Ring pattern, you will see it calls for 3" strips, this is the recommended strip width to easily place your Double Wedding Ring pieced arc tool, and was the size of strip the pattern was written to work best with. However, as pre-cuts have gained popularity and have become a staple in sewing rooms everywhere, we here at Quiltsmart have started to take notice. Mattie spent some time experimenting with the Double Wedding Ring pieced arc tool on Jelly Rolls, and this is what she came up with:
Double Wedding Ring Quilt Block from Jelly Roll |
Double Wedding Ring Quilt Block from Jelly Roll Back |
As you can see from the photos, you can indeed make the Quiltsmart Double Wedding Ring Quilt using Jelly Rolls :) Mattie said to be mindful of your 1/4" seam allowances when creating the arc pieces, and you will do great!
Have you tried using a Jelly Roll or other pre-cut for the Double Wedding Ring? We'd love to hear about your experience!
Commenting just to clarify you can totally use 2.5 strips for the rings with this method. I couldn't find that anywhere else out in the internet
ReplyDeleteCommenting to add you can and should use 2.5 inch strips with this method for the rings. I couldn't find that anywhere else on the internet, but using 3 inch strips is really wasteful with this method. Just make sure to line up the small part of the template with your strip edge.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy! We just did a post on various ways to utilize this method that will hopefully make it more self explanatory for folks who need a visual. That post can be found here: http://quiltsmartie.blogspot.com/2014/07/3-ingenious-ways-to-utilize-quiltsmart.html
